Civil Engineering Technician – Summer Position
REI Engineering, Inc. (REI) is recruiting a civil engineering technician to join our extraordinary team of professionals for the summer of 2023. The civil engineering technician will assist our Civil Construction Engineering Team and our Land Surveying team.
Civil engineering technician specific responsibilities and duties include:
- Read and understand Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans and specifications

This career opportunity entails the following:
- Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with ASTM standards
- Conduct / manage limited Phase II ESAs according to ASTM standards
- Perform project specific field work including: scheduling, coordinating subcontractors, collecting soil, groundwater, surface water and vapor samples for environmental investigations via hydraulic push soil borings, hollow stem auger borings and hand auger borings. Professional Development
REI is committed to the professional growth and development of its team members. In addition to outside training opportunities, we provide a variety of internal training for all members of our team regardless of their position. We offer tuition reimbursement for work-related courses and encourage opportunities for lifelong learning.
REI EDGE is an in-house training resource developed to enhance our teams’ knowledge and provide “The Winners’ EDGE”. Our goals are to learn together, grow as a team, empower each other to be the best we can be, and enhance a culture of belonging.
Annual Team Summit
The annual REI Summit is a day for our team to celebrate our success, understand more about our company, engage in team building, and have FUN!
It is an opportunity to participate in department presentations, learn more about each other and grow as a team.
Community Involvement
REI is committed to giving back to the communities we serve. As a company, we contribute through donations and sponsorships, provide leadership to civic organizations, and encourage our team members to engage in volunteer initiatives. We work with high schools and technical colleges to increase opportunities for youth in our community through mentoring and internships.

Our office is located in the scenic, growing area of Wausau in north central Wisconsin. Whether it’s hunting and fishing, hiking, snow skiing, kayaking or the theater, Wausau has it all.
